  • Seems like I'm seeing a lot of hats these days, are they back? Think I can pull off something similar to Paul Newman, here?

    - Brandon, New Orleans, LA

  • Five years ago, the notion that young guys would willingly put on a hat (that wasn't a ball cap) was unheard of—they were costumey or, at best, old fashioned. But thanks to shows like Mad Men and Boardwalk Empire along with guys like Bruno Mars and Johnny Depp, hats are definitely back. Cocked to the side or worn slightly back on the head, there's a throwback swagger that comes with wearing a good hat—especially this time of year. Look for a slimmed-down straw fedora or a pork pie style, like Newman's sporting. Try one of the season's best below or head to Meyer The Hatter (120 St. Charles Ave., New Orleans), which has been serving the dapper gents of the Crescent City for 117 years.
