Sure, these light bulbs are't compact fluorescent. But you know what? Who cares? They're cool looking. And it's not easy finding a light fixture that's attractive, masculine and affordable. And an Edison-era bulb—with its warm glow and rugged, industrial charm—is all of that and more. No, it won't illuminate an entire room (do you need to light your place for surgery?), but they're great over a table or grouped together in a corner. All you need is a cord and a socket and you're set. Get kits from Urban Outfitters or Ikea or assemble your own at the hardware store with a brass socket and some fabric-covered lamp wire (Grand Brass has good ones). For an added effect, plug them into a dimmer and put those filaments to work. $12 to $16 at Rejuvenation
