In the Pits

With the temperatures beginning to drop, now is the time to trade in your summertime charcoal for some logs. Because nothing says autumn like a nice crafted ale and a log fire burning through the crisp, cool night. The challenge that many of us city folk have is that a camp fire ring isn't always easily accessible. Fear not, we present to you the patio fire pit. These safe, portable models are crafted from durable heat-resistant materials like steel and iron, and provide a cozy and controlled area for your fire—turning your outdoor area into an open-air lounge ideal for entertaining guests. Just make sure you use firewood (aka "seasoned or cured" logs) that's been dried sufficiently to minimize the smoke. Or go with a gas or fuel-based pit to eliminate it entirely. Then sit back, relax and feel free to cook up some sausages or break out the marshmallows.

An Ideal Beer Pairing: The Dogfish Head Punkin Ale is a full-bodied brown ale,
brewed with baked pumpkins and spice. Enjoy it with your stick-roasted bratwurst.
