The Patterned Sweater Spectrum

Styling Tip

Toe that line between dressy and casual by wearing these with a solid oxford shirt, cuffed jeans and a pair of hiking boots.

If you haven't heard, crewneck sweaters are popping up in all sorts of colors, fabrications and most importantly, patterns. This season, we're seeing designers pull inspiration from nearly anywhere: classic patterns, nautical items and even prehistoric animals. There are so many different styles out right now, it can be hard to decide—go for one that's timeless and understated or a bolder choice that will inject a little bit of flavor into everything you wear it with. Hopefully, we can make this selection process a bit easier. Here's a roundup of the best ones we've seen, in a range of prices.

Topman, $64

Polka dots are having a moment, so this navy cotton crewneck is apropos.

Club Monaco, $99

Made from a wool/cotton blend, the classic striped sweater gets a dose of modern color and texture.

Jack Spade, $350

A bolder, modern all-over fair isle pattern dominates this wool crewneck.

J.Crew, $70

This looks like any other nautical shirt, but up close, it's really a soft, cotton/cashmere sweater.

Gant Rugger, $220

This wool-blend sweater turns up the Nordic inspiration in the form of a snowflake pattern.

Jil Sander, $570

Made of wool and camel hair, with a quirky dinosaur print and checkerboard pattern.
