The Case for
Simple Sneakers

Sure, those lightweight running sneakers have been getting a lot of play these days, but we're firm believers that simple tennis shoes are some of the most versatile footwear both on and off the court. And with the U.S. Open in full swing, it seems we're not alone on that either. On a recent trip to J.Crew, we discovered their newest footwear collaboration with Nike takes two classic kicks and puts them back in the game. The low-profile Killshot 2 has a striking gum sole, suede details and a subtle navy swoosh that makes it ideal for transitional weather—or sprucing up a dark suit. Meanwhile, the Challenge Court takes the shoe that John McEnroe made famous in 1984 and gives it a decidedly throwback feel. Game, set and match.
