Nancy and Walter Katin started out making custom canvas boat covers in the 1950s. Then local surfers started clamoring for a pair of swim trunks cut from the same durable material, and that's how they started doing what they do best. Their trunks are known for being able to withstand just about anything the sea can throw at them, and it doesn't hurt that the simple, straightforward designs look damn cool too. The Huntington Beach-based brand recently got together with Club Monaco for a small capsule collection which just launched online and in select stores. It consists of a T-shirt, a hat and three interpretations of their classic trunks. The Surf Trunk and Paradise Trunk offer a fresh take on Katin's signature cut, and are made of nylon, while the Swim Trunk is made of a cool chambray fabric and features details like reinforced triple-needle stitching, Corozo nut buttons and a 1-inch waistband. Either one is a great way to ride the waves in style.
