Cotton/silk cardigan, $145
(available in navy and grey) by Gant Rugger

The
Casual Cardigan

Now that autumn weather is approaching, it's time to break out the lightweight knitwear that can double as a transitional layering piece. For most guys, that means comfortable hoodies and buttoned-up cardigans that can easily be dressed up. However, Gant Rugger has managed to come out with this laid-back garment that combines the best of both worlds. Drawing on their inspiration from the slow food movement, their fall collection consists of plenty of easy-wearing pieces that can go with a loose T-shirt and slim oxford alike. The Gathering Cardigan channels a shawl collar silhouette, but does away with the buttons for a more relaxed fit. It also looks good under a perfectly-tailored blazer, or adds a soft texture to a rugged denim jacket. It's one of those rare closet gems where there's absolutely no wrong way to wear it. But the sizes are starting to go, so if you're thinking about pulling the trigger, move fast.

The brand is kicking off the new collection with a limited-edition flavor from Brooklyn Salsa Co. available for purchase in select stores. It's made of heirloom tomatoes, char-grilled veggies and an array of spices for some kick.
