For a while now, J.Crew has made dressing well easier than ever. What's helped them boil down menswear basics to what seems like a science? Easy, they make shirts, pants and wardrobe essentials that can be worn in any number of ways—and then mix them up with other goods from brands with a certain pedigree. From Alden shoes to Mackintosh jackets, J.Crew has a reputation for taking cult, artisan brands and breaking them down for the average guy. This spirit informs their latest venture, Discovered, a new online section that curates a combination of limited-edition pieces from brands like Nanamica and New Balance, and mixes them up with fresh takes on closet workhorses—like the smart chambray spread-collar shirt that I couldn't resist buying earlier today. Normally, you'd have to rifle through a bunch of menswear sites and blog posts to find this much good stuff in one place. But they've done all the legwork for you.
