The Blue Chino Spectrum

Styling Tip

Wear these with darker colors. Consider a tonal look by pairing them with a navy polo and a lightweight bomber jacket. Throw on some dirtied-up canvas kicks to complete your off-duty kit.

Brands seem to be having a blue period right now, and we're not just talking about navy. For a few seasons, more and more labels have been introducing brighter hues of blue into their collections, especially when it comes to chinos. Cobalt blue, royal blue, electric blue—all of them have that unmistakable shade of stark "blue"-ness that almost makes them the anti-Nantucket red. Not quite neon, it seems to be the new choice of men who want to dress a little bolder. And it actually looks more masculine than you'd think. Whether you want a pair to wear occasionally or break in all season long, we rounded up some of the brightest blues from popular retailers to sought-after designers:

jcp, $30 / $20

J.C. Penney's private label offers up an easily affordable pair of flat-front cotton chinos in what they call "fierce blue."
