A Superior Polo

It's the quintessential warm weather shirt and something of an icon of casual American style—the polo shirt. But there are countless versions out in the market today from nearly every mass brand and designer label. But not all are created equal. The right polo needs to be cut from light, durable yet breathable cotton, with a close (but not restricting) fit and sleeves that are cut high and tight. We've weeded through dozens and found the four worth checking out.

Contrast Collar

This cotton jersey polo has a relaxed fit with a throwback style in addition to a contrasting twill spread collar.

$110, by Hartford

Bold Print

A perforated cotton fabric with a camouflage print is juxtaposed with a classic polo collar, two-button placket and ribbed sleeve cuffs.

$150, by Gant by Michael Bastian

Faded Indigo

Real indigo dye and a long, tough washing process makes for a jersey polo that has a distinctive denim look with a much softer feel.

$85, by J.Crew
