Stone + Cloth

When Matt Clough went to Tanzania to reach the peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro, he found more than a sense of extreme accomplishment at the top—he had an epiphany. After discovering the Tanzanian porter who helped him along the way hardly earned enough to put his children through school, Clough returned to the US and started Stone + Cloth, a company which makes accessories that help provide scholarships to Tanzanian children. Launching with a rucksack inspired by the one they carried to Kiliminjaro's peak, the brand has since branched out into other backpacks and media cases. Each product is made in Los Angeles with details like a padded laptop sleeve, heavy-duty cotton webbing, antique brass hardware and padded straps. All of the products are under $75, resulting in an attractive, American-made goods that are also astonishingly affordable. The fact that it's all for a good cause? That's the icing on the cake.
