As the type of guy that prefers pants over shorts come summer, I have a difficult time parting with my raw selvedge denim no matter how high the mercury rises. Unfortunately, as anyone who tries to wear raw denim in the heat of summer knows, you're likely to feel more like you're wearing leg casts in the middle of Florida swampland than jeans. Thankfully, the good guys over at 3Sixteen have recently unveiled their 101x lightweight raw denim to give denimheads an option for the warmer months. While your standard raw denim weighs in at roughly 14oz, the 101x comes in at a relatively breezy 12oz sanforized selvedge from the Kuroki Mills in Okayama, Japan. To help with the relaxed feel, the 101x shares the same warp as the label's 100x model, but is washed in a lighter rinse to provide a softer feel. The leg shape comes in either straight leg or my favorite, the slim straight taper. True to 3Sixteen's high quality, every pair of the 101x will have a Tanner Goods leather patch, custom rivets and buttons and selvedge detailing from the hem to the fly. If you're someone who likes to wear denim year round, it's well worth your time to visit 3Sixteen's webstore or local stockist before you even think about trading in your selvedge for some shorts this summer.
