Menswear veteran and Valet's Editor at Large, Michael Macko, presents an insider's take on what's new and noteworthy in the world of style.

Just the Facts: Kid Stuff

Who:

Crewcuts

What:

37 ½" sneaker laces, $4

Where:

When:

Now

Why:

As the temperature started to drop this past week, I decided it was time to break out my Clarks Desert Boots. And while I couldn't put my finger on it at the time, I felt that there was just something missing. The next day, I happened to be shopping for a gift at Crewcuts, the J.Crew kids store, when I noticed these amazing bright colored laces merchandised into all the shoes. It was one of those "I wish they made that in my size" moments. Lo and behold, they do. While the regular kids MacAlister laces (measuring a mere 22.5") are too short, the longer 37.5" sneaker laces are the perfect length for the three eyelet boots and they come in ten different shades. I tested them out a few nights ago at a couple of industry parties and everyone wanted to know who made my shoes.
