Menswear veteran and Valet's Editor at Large, Michael Macko, presents an insider's take on what's new and noteworthy in the world of style.

Just the Facts: Sharps Soap

Who:

Sharps Barber & Shop

What:

Happy Me All Over soap

Where:

SharpsNYC.com, Urban Outfitters and Barneys stores

When:

Available now

Why:

The first thing that attracted me was the smell. Clean, citrusy and extremely light—the way you want to smell naturally—thanks to a combination of grapefruit, papaya and ginseng extract. Then there's the color, that perfect shade of jadeite green like the interior of a Prada store. And if that doesn't do it, there's the heft of it. The American-made soap is hard milled, meaning it lasts for more than two weeks. At $6.50 a bar, you certainly get your money's worth. But it's the results that really won me over. "Happy Me All Over" has heavy doses of mango butter and almond protein which leave your skin smooth enough to skip the moisturizer if you're in a rush.

Insider Tip

Sharps also sells travel size 1.7 oz. soaps. I buy these three at a time and keep them stocked in my Dopp kit. They're more than enough for a long weekend or business trip and the $3 price is definitely worth the risk of a bad bar of hotel soap.
