In December, Spencer Nikosey graduated from California's Art Center College of Design and as part of his senior show, he created a brand, Killspencer. He passed with flying colors and his line of bags, handcrafted in Los Angeles from repurposed vintage military tarps, has just launched in the real world. The coated fabric (once used in actual combat), water-resistant zippers and military-issue cobra quick-release buckles make for a work bag that can take a beating and come out looking good. "The inspiration developed naturally," says the designer and history buff. "I spent a lot of time at the American Military museum sketching tanks and trucks, to understand their form and functionality." $450, at Killspencer
