My first Swiss Army knife came by way of my father, after I joined the Boy Scouts. I carried it around with hope that I would yield it with the same skills I saw on MacGyver, but I never much used it for anything other than whittling sticks. But since then, I've always had an appreciation for its design. Especially for the paired-down soldier's knife, standard issue for the actual Swiss army. The company just redesigned the pocket knife—only the fourth evolution in its 120-year history—and will distribute the blades to more than 75,000 of Switzerland's soldiers this spring. The new version features several screwdrivers, a seatbelt cutter and a locking blade for one-handed opening.
