The "T" in T-shirt refers to the shape of the garment's outline.

Based in Cincinnati Ohio, Velva Sheen began making simple garments from American-grown cotton in 1932. They eventually became the official producer of T-shirts, sweats and shorts for a number of universities as well as the US military. Today, the distinctive Velva Sheen label is coveted among vintage connoisseurs and has taken off in Japan. Extra soft and extremely durable, the shirts are sewn with a "tube" design (meaning no side seems). Still American made the old fashioned way, the shirts are only available at a few select stores here in the States. Thankfully, Context just landed the tees, in six colors, thanks to savvy shop owner Ryan Huber. "They've got an old school fit that works great today," he says. "It reminds me of the stuff my father and grandfather handed down." Sure, they're more expensive than your average 3-pack of Hanes, but it's the difference between getting-the-job-done and doing-the-job-well. The handsome packaging is just a bonus.
