Stay Dry

Spring is here in full force, and along with the change in temperatures come the inevitable down pours. While keeping the body dry is easy, your head presents a challenge when mother nature tosses a few inches of water from the sky. Typically your options for refuge would be an umbrella or an oversized Gore-Tex hood. But, some people (like myself) simply hate umbrellas. And I don't aspire to look like I'm making a summit attempt after work. Our solution? The rain hat. Whether waxed or oiled, it's a low cost, highly functional and space saving way of keeping dry on drizzly days. Plus, with so many good looking options, don't be shocked to find yourself wearing one on nice days too.

  • Paraffin infused cotton came about in the 1930s as an alternative to previous waterproof "oil cloths" that were treated with linseed oil.
