Hamilton, $945

This Swiss-made automatic watch is water resistant to 100 meters. The 44mm case has a vintage-inspired face with 24-hour time and a seconds subdial. We particularly like the hearty suede strap.

The
Modern
Field
Watch

We ask a lot of our timepieces, especially in the summer. You want it to be lightweight and comfortable but still durable. You want it to be resistant to dangers like water but also handsome enough to wear in a range of situations. A field watch fits the bill. Solidly built and simply designed, they were once only found on the wrists of soldiers and adventurers, but today's versions have been toned down to be a little less sporty and technical. Still plenty rugged, they're masculine watches you can sport off-duty and still wear to work on Monday.
