Patagonia's

Legacy Collection

Celebrating the four decades it took to go from a rag-tag bunch of mountain climbers to a world-renowned The Originalperformance brand, Patagonia's new Legacy Collection reimagines classic archival pieces with more modern luxuries and fits. The 10-piece collection pays homage to the company's roots in dependable equipment—as John Rapp, the company's senior lifestyle designer puts it, "It's about celebrating 40 years of Patagonia doing it right."

Further Reading: Part memoir, part manifesto, Yvon Chouinard's Let My People Go Surfing ($16) offers a look at the guiding principles that built Patagonia.

One of the most recognizable pieces in the collection is this quilted pullover, based on a similar offering that was first introduced back in the early '80s. Cut from soft organic cotton, it's finished with a special edition logo patch. And that quilted pattern does more than just look sharp—each chamber traps air within the featherweight Polartec filling, insulating the body while remaining trim enough to be layered under a blazer or rain coat. After all, Patagonia's founder, Yvon Chouinard, was never interested in peddling mere products or gimmicks. He wanted practical tools and apparel for everyone from the rock climber to the commuter who needs protection from the elements while trekking to work.

Patagonia's Legacy Collection is available in stores and online now.
