Along with a slew of discerning men, we checked out the goods at the much-buzzed-about Pop Up Flea—the temporary market of menswear and oddities curated by A Continuous Lean's Michael Williams and Urban Daddy's Randy Goldberg. Whether it was emerging brands or vintage finds, craftsmanship was key. Billykirk's Chris and Kirk Bray set up a small workshop and Hickey's Aaron Levine, the co-designer for new hat brand Hattan, summed up the Flea and its atmosphere as "people doing it for the love of the game." Asked about the genesis of the event, Williams admitted flirting with the idea of opening a store but time demands had prevented any concerted endeavor. After conversations with Goldberg revealed similar ambitions, the pair decided to open their vision of the perfect shop in New York City ... if only for a weekend. - James Valetin
