One Man's Style

Since January of 2009 One Man's Style has been standing out in a world of ubiquitous and often interchangeable photo blogs. Always four pictures—no more no less—it takes a very measured approach to presenting beautiful images. Each post is a visual short story capturing a unique aesthetic or theme. We decided to learn who exactly this style represents. Turns out its curated by Andy Ray out of Boston, MA, who's still amazed at what his blog has become.

1

What led you to start the blog?

I'd been checking out blogs for a while and had a bunch of pictures that I had saved and wanted to do something with them. OMS is based of off the 4 pictures that I post: 1 men's style, 1 woman, and 2 randoms (i.e. design, movies, music or food).

2

How do you curate each post?

There are so many pictures out there that are cool, but for one reason or another they don't fit into my aesthetic. I stick with the same format, sometimes I try to create a story with the man and woman as the characters, sometimes it's just objects that I feel fit in some way.

3

And they vary aesthetically, is there one that personifies you?

I don't think that I can be classified into one specific style (prep, traditional, high fashion, minimalist). There aren't any posts on the site that don't represent my style or interests.

The Expertly Packed Carry-On

Question

What should I pack for my first business trip?

- Matt, OH

Answer

With nearly every airline imposing a baggage fee nowadays, if you can get away with flying with just a carry-on, do it.
