The Shirt: Go To Pieces

Call it patchwork, call it pieced, but we like designer Mark McNairy's description for the Frankenstein-esque button-downs which abound this spring. He simply calls it the fun shirt. "The inspiration for the more eccentric pieces in my collection—like the fun shirt—probably started with my infatuation with Brooks Brothers, who invented the original shirt with scraps from their regular shirts," says McNairy, a master at twisted prep and a lover of any Go To Hell style. "When it all comes down to it, I love imperfection and these shirts are the oxford cloth manifestation of that." From Rugby's and Gitman's bright, multi-colored versions to more subtle and monochromatic takes by Charles & ½ and J.Press, there are plenty of options for you this spring. That is, if you're bold enough to give one a try.
