Having a Moment

Popovers

The popover shirt is an easy transitional piece for the summer months. Which could explain why there are so many on the market right now. While there are plenty made from beefy oxford fabrics, many labels and designers are upping the ante with featherweight fabrics and of-the-moment patterns we can really get behind. There are also a handful in that familiar Southern favorite, seersucker. Which is great because while most guys don't really need a full-on seersucker suit (without looking like they're headed to the Derby), it's much easier to wear it as a shirt—like this printed one by Gitman Brothers Vintage. Your body will thank you for it during a blast of summer humidity. From hand-dyed indigo hues and Indian madras to smart gingham interpretations, here are a few popovers we like, at various prices a pop.

Be sure to find a shirt with a slim, but comfortable fit. Too loose and a popover can look a little billowy. And don't worry about tucking it in.

J.Crew, $70
Sid Mashburn, $145
Lands' End Canvas, $49
Nudie Jeans, $200
