How to Wear a Spring Suit

Men's Journal has a good piece on pulling off spring suiting. After all, once the milder weather arrives, men tend to bench their wool and flannels for the season and switch to suits cut from lighter fabrics. "But looking great in a spring suit isn't just a matter of wearing one," writes Todd Plummer. "In order to put together an outfit that is, in equal turns, casual and formal, men need to pay close attention to the details—and have some fun with it." They asked a group of menswear designers and experts to weigh in on what we need to look our best. Herewith, just a few of their thoughts with our finds to match.

Their Suggestion

"Shoes for spring suits should be matte brown. Avoid anything with too much gloss as it can read a little formal and ditch the black, instead bringing a bit of warmth with brown leathers and suedes. Derbies and wingtip lace-ups are generally a good call, but shoe designer Matt Bernson swears by a tassle loafer."

Their Suggestion

"A classic metal watch is always in style, but spring is the perfect time to rock whatever you wear camping. Field watches look great with lighter suits and mark you as a man of action."

Their Suggestion

"'In spring I like to go simple and old-school when it comes to the shirts I put with suits—solid white or blue or classic stripes with a solid tie,' says designer Michael Bastian."

FYI

The best part about having a suit that fits you well and feels good, is that you're way more likely to break up the pieces and actually wear it in your day to day life.
