The Denim Shirt
"Dress shirt fabrics are pretty straightforward," writes Put This On's Derek Guy, who is advocating for a more modern and relaxed fabric for a dress shirt—denim. We'd have to agree. Able to be dressed up with a tie under a suit, or worn casually (untucked, sleeves rolled with some chinos or white denim), the durable indigo button-downs also make ideal travel pieces that can be repurposed and worn as a light jacket.
Guy also has the details on a new limited-run of custom denim shirts by Proper Cloth. Using high-end two-ply denim from a renowned Italian mill, the "denim starts off raw, but will then be put through one of two washes. One results in a darker color; the other lighter. Stylistic details, such as collar and cuff style, are of course fully customizable."
