As ACL's Mr. Williams makes his way around Italy, his compatriot David Coggins celebrates the classic Italian aperitivo, the Negroni. Made from equal parts Campari, gin and sweet vermouth it's the kind of on the rocks drink you can't not look cool sipping. "As in all things sartorial, the secret lies in the proportions. You may add more gin to taste—but be gentle with the Campari," warns Coggins. "Like marmalade, Campari looks good but tends towards bitterness—add too much and the whole enterprise collapses."
