Woolrich's New Man

The blogosphere's buzzing with news that Mark McNairy will succeed Daiki Suzuki as creative director of Woolrich Woolen Mills. Suzuki, who is just finishing the Spring '11 collection, helped recruit McNairy, who's previously designed for J.Press, Southwick along with his own burgeoning label, New Amsterdam. The designer certainly brings a fresh perspective. "It's not going to be red-and-black buffalo check — that I can tell you," McNairy told WWD. "I think I'll end up adding a military aspect and some Ivy League. After all, this is the guy that introduced a pair of wingtips trimmed in digi-camo.
