Mountaineering

"We carry a lot of Japanese labels and there are tons of dope brands over there, so the stars kinda have to align for us to carry the stuff," says Chris Gibbs, owner of LA's Union. "We'd been watching White Mountaineering for a couple of seasons and we really liked how it balanced a simplicity with beautiful details." Launched in 2006 by Yosuke Aizawa, a former assistant to Junya Watanabe, the label focuses on merging performance pieces with classic, preppy influences. Think Gore-tex jackets with chambray shirting and Fair Isle sport socks. Make no mistake, the stuff ain't cheap. "All things considered, it's fairly priced compared to some other brands," says Gibbs. "And they're offering unique items that we don't get from other brands, or even see in the market in general."

  • White Mountaineering collaborated with Vans for a special edition shoe for the spring collection.
