Wide
Lapel

Spring has officially arrived and with it comes the rebirth of the wide lapel. Ralph Lauren, an eternal advocate of the look, has designed suits and sport coats for the season in a range of fabrics and fits—from glen plaid blazers to khaki twill suits—with a classic wide lapel. Paul Smith mixed a modern one-button blazer with traditionally broad peak lapels. And up-and-coming label Ovadia & Sons used the lapels in their double-breasted jackets for spring. "The wider lapel, when referenced these days, is simply the classic width that has been around forever," says Shimon and Ariel Ovadia, the twin brothers behind the brand. "It's never really left and we prefer classic. It's a good feeling when you can reach into your closet in twenty years and your clothes are still in style."

- Robert I. Brown
