I'm pretty much an underwear egalitarian. Most of my boxers are from the Gap—pretty standard, yet respectable enough should the need to remove my pants arise. After hearing so much about Birds of Sausalito, a luxury mens underwear brand, I decided to try a pair. Right out of the packaging, I noticed they were lighter than your average boxer.
Panel Seat
And only half the waistband is elasticized, with a tab-front fastened with mother-of-pearl buttons. I thought that pearl buttons and single-needle stitch tailoring were a tad much, but then I pulled on the hand sewn shorts. Cut from Peruvian Pima cotton, the feel is akin to fine hotel bedding. There's something to be said here for personal luxury. Not a show of wealth, but investing in quality.
