In terms of practicality, a belt's purpose is to keep your pants from falling down. But when it's really working, it pulls your whole look together. The key is finding the right one. Sometimes you want one that's simple and understated. Other times, you'd like something to punctuate your outfit. A slide belt does both. About an inch wide, they're neither too slim and dressy nor too wide or casual. Which makes it the ideal belt to wear with everything from beat up jeans and chinos, to your best suits or flannel trousers. Classic versions feature a sterling silver engine turned buckle on an alligator strap. But these here—some with a more modern plain face buckle—are a tad less precious. Not to mention, they don't require any tightening of the proverbial belt.

  • US Army Regulation 670-1 calls for all trousers to be worn with a belt.
