Lands' End Canvas

Lands' End has always been a secret source for the style set—the guys from GQ sport their down vests and we dig their silk knit ties. But they're stepping out from the shadows and embracing their classic history (as a sailing outfitter founded in 1963) with a new line gathering buzz, Canvas 1963. Like the recent infusions of fashion at the Gap and L.L. Bean, the aesthetic is an updated take on their All-American prep heritage. That means oxford shirts washed for softness, a simple shawl collar sweater and outerwear pulled from the pages of Take Ivy—all at the kind of prices that's had moms shopping Lands' End for years. "It's about the basics of a man's wardrobe done right, with a few fashion pieces that have some attitude," says Suzanne Bryant, VP of design. "And it's about sweating the details." We tried their slimmed down oxford on for size and let's just say, we're gonna have a lot more money for drinks this winter. Look for the full collection this Feburary.

Oxford, $29.50; cotton pea coat, $79.50 and Allen Edmond MacNeil wing tips, $325
