Everyman's Italian Suit

It seems too good to be true. A modern, well-tailored suit made in Italy from premium fabric for less than a thousand dollars? But in fact, it can be found at Badowers—the men's shop in Des Moines, Iowa that's been specializing in quality menswear for six decades. And it's not from some no-name maker either. The suit is crafted by Luigi Bianchi Mantova, one of the oldest continuous clothing manufacturers in Italy (and the parent company of the younger LBM 1911 label).

"I wanted to offer a classic suit with a modern cut at an attainable price," says Kevin Hansen, the shop's manager and buyer. "We have a great relationship with the guys at Luigi Bianchi, so we worked together to find the fabrics and I placed a large enough order to be able to sell a suit made in Italy with the same quality and finish as one of their suits that would cost you well over $1,500."

The resulting suit is a dapper two-button style with side vents and a soft shoulder cut from a year-round wool with 2% stretch for ultimate comfort and mobility. It comes with trim, flat front pants with a modern mid-rise and a slight taper at the ankle. "We like to think of this suit as a guy's first grown up suit," says Hansen. "So many times we get a younger guy in the shop asking for a black suit—we don't sell black suits, and try to guide him towards the benefits of grey or navy." What's more, the shop is currently offering an online trunk show promotion for 10% off the suits for one week starting today. So if you're looking for a handsome suit that's as relaxed as it is tailored, you won't find better quality for the price.
