The packable piece easily rolls into a pocket-sized bag when not in use.
FYI
With a down ratio of 90%, the vest's 640 fill-power exceeds the industry standard for what's considered "premium."
While we're definitely looking forward to warmer weather, there's still plenty of breezy days and chilly nights ahead. And no layer is more integral or versatile during spring's cool-warm-cold-wet moments than a lightweight vest. Not the extremely puffy, wool versions meant for the rages of winter, but a leaner and lightly insulated version—one that's resistant to wind and misty precipitation, but won't cause you to overheat when the sun's shining. We just happened upon this one from Uniqlo's "Ultra Light Down" collection this weekend and it's one of the best we've come across. With a tailored silhouette, trim armholes and a standup collar, it's got a modern fit that makes easy work out of layering (over or under your jackets). And in true Uniqlo fashion, they come in a dozen colors in fits ranging from extra small to 3XL. But the real benefit is the true lightness of the piece. Using the latest technology, the Japanese retailer increased the down quality instead of the volume and the fabric itself is extremely light yet incredibly strong—woven from nylon thread that's thinner than a human hair. This not only reduces the weight of the garment but prevents any potential "feather leakage." Throw it over everything from a sweater or henley to a shirt and tie or a simple T-shirt when you're out jogging. The only downside? They're starting to run out of sizes, so you'd better pull the trigger soon.
