To Catch a Thief Style

Alfred Hitchcock's cat burglar caper "To Catch a Thief" was released 58 years ago this week. And the classic movie seems even more relevant these days thanks to the recent jewel heist in Cannes—which is where the film was shot. If you're not familiar with the movie (other than its constant presence on stylish film lists), it stars Cary Grant as John Robie, a notorious but retired jewel thief who now tends to his vineyards in the hills of the French Riviera. But soon enough, a case of mistaken identity and a few nights with Francie (played by Grace Kelly) has Robie back to his old tricks. All the while, he's impeccably turned out in a wardrobe of rakish but relaxed staples befitting an American summering in Europe.
