The Review

Price

For the quality of construction and tailoring, the price is in line if not more affordable than high-end mass brands like J.Crew and Club Monaco.

Materials

The shirts are constructed from a smooth, mid-weight cotton oxford cloth and finished with high quality acetate buttons.

Comfort

With a perfected slim fit, the shirt hugs in all the right places without being constricting and the fabric gets softer with each wash.

We receive a lot of packages at Valet. So when the shirt from Givons landed on my desk, it didn't exactly stand out. It looked like any other shirt. Your standard blue oxford cloth button-down. But upon closer inspection, the details stood out. It had a smaller, more modern collar with a rear collar button and a lean placket. Our interest was piqued, so out of editorial curiosity, we took turns trying it on. The fit was on point̬fitted in the shoulders with high armholes and a relaxed chest. The nipped waist was slimming but thankfully, didn't have any darts in back. Nor was it so fitted that the buttons pulled when you sat down. So we threw it in the washer for a few cycles and ran it through the dryer for a while. Then I rolled it up and packed it on a long weekend trip where I ended up wearing it twice. According to co-founder Zack Schwab, perfecting the fit took about a year's worth of trial-and-error, after which, they focused on nailing the weight and feel. The end result is a durable, mid-weight cotton that's breathable and comfy without feeling too flimsy. What's more, for every two shirts the brand sells, they donate a shirt to American organizations that provide underprivileged students, veterans and the homeless with nice clothes for school and job interviews.
