21st-Century Chukkas

The classic desert boot, when it debuted in the 1940s, was lauded for its combination of comfort, style and simple ingenuity. Nathan Clark gleaned the style from Cairo shoemakers and took it to the next level with luxe suede on top of a lightweight crepe sole. A timeless silhouette with premium materials, it was a shoe that looked and felt great. Leave it to the innovation machine at Nike to take that footwear staple to the next level. When they first introduced their Flyknit technology last year, sneakerheads, running nuts and men of style couldn't wait to test out the new models. This year, they've followed it up with a chukka version, available in multiple colors and set upon an ultralight comfortable Lunar sole—the same one that makes the Cole Haan Lunargrand such a pleasure to walk in. They've also released the Nike Free Woven Chukka, Lunar Flyknit
a tonal silhouette that takes advantage of Nike's Free 3.0 sole and a breathable woven upper with suede accents. Both are modern takes on a tried-and-true footwear staple that aren't just fashion-forward, but also technologically-advanced. Welcome to the future.

Nike's swoosh logo was created in 1971 by Portland State University student Carolyn Davidson.
