New Tube

We always hit "remind me later" whenever a software update message pops up, but that doesn't mean we don't appreciate a good piece of tech. Evidently, TV tuners that connect to your computer have been around for some time (news to us), but Elgato's new EyeTV Hybrid was worth the wait. Plug the slim memory-stick-sized tuner into your USB and your MacBook instantly becomes a portable TV with TiVo-like recording capabilities. Did we mention it's capable of Dolby Digital sound and HDTV? But wait, there's more. Once you've recorded a show, an editing application lets you snip out any unwanted bits (read: commercials). Then simply export so you can watch any missed shows on an iPod, iPhone or Apple TV. $150, at Elgato.com.
