Editor favorite men's grooming products

We're always receiving new products here at Valet. headquarters. You might also say we're a bunch of alpha consumers and grooming geeks. So when we really love a product, it's because we've done our research and tried pretty much everything on the market. Here are the six products that our team is swearing by at the moment. From soothing products to improve your skin and a smarter way to shave, to a guilty pleasure procured through Amazon Prime.

Dermalogica Precleanse Oil-Based Cleanser

A Pore-Minimizing
Cleanser

Cory
Ohlendorf

Editor in Chief

“Sometimes I realize I'm loving a product and I'm not even sure how it ended up in my bathroom. That was the case with this oil-based cleanser. When my regular face wash ran out, I grabbed this bottle and read the directions. The oil-based cleanser is part of a 'Double Cleanse regimen' but I use it on its own and honestly, it's made a noticeable difference in the look and feel of my skin. And I think it's because the oil effectively pulls out all the gunk from my pores. You actually massage it into dry skin, then add water. The milky result washes away grime, grit and whatever else is on my face after a long day or workout. My pores are smaller, my skin smoother. In short, I don't think I'll ever use another cleanser.”

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream SPF 30

An All-Star
SPF Moisturizer

Scott

“This is the last thing I put on before I leave the house every morning. It applies evenly and helps protect my skin from UV rays while keeping it hydrated during the driest winter months. And thankfully, a jar lasts you a long time.”

Olay Ultra Moisture with Shea Butter Soap

A Better Bar
of Soap

Jeremy
Norman

Co-Founder

“I'm a bar of soap kind of guy. Not shower gel. And I've tried countless brands. Masculine looking bricks of dark soap scented with leather and moss or high-end brands that seemed promising ... but they all let me down. They either fell apart or left a dry, film-y sensation on my skin. This bar, from your mother's favorite beauty brand, Olay, is infused with shea butter, has a light scent, keeps its shape until the very end and leaves my skin smooth after I towel off. I simply have nothing but love for my guilty pleasure soap.”

Envy Medical Trifecting Night Cream 1.0

A Skin-Perfecting
Night Cream

Jordan
Taylor

Writer

“You've got to appreciate a product that pulls double duty. Some night creams just moisturize, but this one actually hydrates while correcting past damage to your skin and aiding the regeneration of new, healthy skin cells—all while I sleep. If you're over 30 and not using a retinol, you'll regret it. But they can be a bit harsh and leave your skin peeling and sensitive. This one mixes encapsulated retinol with ingredients like peptides (to minimize dark spots) along with such skin soothing ingredients as shea butter and hyaluronic acid. Is it cheap? No. But it works and thankfully a little goes a long way.”

Lab Series Age Rescue+ Face Lotion

A Lighter
Face Lotion

Ronald
Miller

Contributing Editor

“I hate heavy face lotions that feel like they're sticking to your face all morning. Which is why I'm so glad I found this. The Age Rescue+ lotion is more of a gel, so it's ultra light and absorbs quickly, keeping me feeling fresh all day. Apparently, over time it 'visibly firms the skin,' so I guess it's good that I have it set to auto-replenishment every three months.”

Aesop Moroccan Neroli Shaving Serum

A Shaving Cream
Alternative

“I'm the type of dude who shaves every three days or so, making for a more relaxed shaving regiment. But, if there's anything I've learned, the longer you wait between shaves, the more of a nuisance the process can be as you're more likely to encounter irritation. My silver bullet isn't a shaving cream nor a shaving gel but a serum from Aēsop. It only takes one to two drops to cover your whole face and delivers the smoothest, most nourishing shave you'll ever have. The serum calms the face, allowing for a closer shave, ultimately making your face a whole lot softer by the end of your shave. What's more, with my routine, the larger 3.4 fl oz bottle lasts me over a year—and it's TSA compliant.”
