New York's The Cut recently sat down with designer Mark McNairy (who, you may know, is also the creative director for J.Press). They talk about his New Amsterdam label, the resurrection of Ivy League style and his own preppy sensibility.

My favorite thing to do is go to the Salvation Army for inspiration. I have a huge collection of vintage Brooks Brothers button-down shirts—probably about 300 of them—and vintage military chinos.
