Objectified:
Adler's Clean White Socks

Ivy Style examines a collegiate look from back in the day—wearing white socks with your penny loafers. And also the phenomenon of bleaching said socks, which resulted in a sickly yellow color. It was a uniform of sorts: chinos, Bass Weejuns and a particular brand of white wool socks, Adler. "On the label it said 'Do not bleach,'" remembers one old school prep. "So of course we all bleached them." Any chance such a trend would ever make its way back into fashion? We're not so sure.
