Harris Tweed

There's really no other name in tweed more famous or respected than Harris Tweed, made in Scotland's Outer Hebrides. This fascinating video, making its way around Tumblr, shows how the fabric starts as raw wool, dyed in a technicolor range of shades, is then woven into the various tweed patterns you see today. "By law, all Harris Tweed is woven in the islander's homes, as it's been done for centuries," says the narrator. "And all Harris Tweed weaving must be hand-powered, which is specified by an act of Parliament."
