In 18th Century England, the cloth became the practical choice of outdoorsmen because it's warm, dries quickly and is hard-wearing.

How to Wear It

While there's nothing wrong with classic browns and shades of tan, don't be afraid to try some other shades to add casual color to your wardrobe.

What to Look for

When it comes to wales, too thick looks old fashioned, but too fine can look like velvet. A medium weight pinwale is your best bet.
