July

Early
Look for Fourth of July sales around 6/30.
  • Most stores offer additional discounts to sale items and online stores offer free shipping and other deals.

Mid-Month
First set of fall clothes arrive in stores.

Late
Furniture goes on sale:
New styles hit the showroom floor twice a year (February and August), and stores need to make room for the new arrivals.

August

Early
Bedding and towel sales: Stores hold white sales when college students are shopping for dorm room essentials.

Mid-Month
Nearly half of all states offer tax-free holidays (anywhere from a weekend to a week) where sales tax isn't collected on such items as clothing, school/office supplies and computers.
  • Check your state's website for exact dates.

  • Hang up coats and air out sweaters. Check for any dirt or discolorations. Some pieces may require dry cleaning.
Late
Unpack fall/winter clothes (and donate any pieces you don't plan on wearing again).

September

How to Fold

Always fold sweaters. And whether you're packing them in a box or stacking them in your closet, a commercial folding board makes it both quick and easy.

1

Center board on the back of the sweater and fold sides and arms back.

2

Fold the tail end up and over to the top of the board.

3

Slip the board out, place it under the sweater and lay it on the stack.

Late
Pack away summer clothes (and donate any unwanted pieces).
  • Avoid storing garments along an exterior wall, where higher humidity could result in mildew growth or fabric deterioration.
Early
Grills and other outdoor supplies go on sale.
  • If you're not planning on using them until next summer, leave them professionally packed in the boxes.

Mid-Month
Second set of fall clothes begins arriving in stores.
