Unstructured
Sports Coats

Why

An unstructured jacket is like a good diver watch—a wardrobe workhorse that allows you to feel cool and comfortable while looking put together.

Origins

Invented in the 1930s by a Neapolitan tailor who ripped the guts out of a stiff, traditionally tailored suit for a softer, more relaxed jacket.

How to Wear It

There's a casual ease to the jacket, so pair it with washed cotton shirts (with open collars) or layer it over your favorite henley or T-shirt. Don't forget the pocket square.

What to Look for

Slim sleeves with high armholes for ease of movement and a nipped waist for a lean silhouette. We also appreciate plenty of pockets.
